And for my opening blog I shall blog about----FOOD!
Oh yes, I'm a foodie consumed with wanderlust. Does that sound sinful? As sinful as a devil's cake smothered smoothly with thick ganache, drizzled with dulce de leche and served with vanilla ice cream aside? Ahhhh, I'm salivating as I'm typing. Oh my,evil thought that was.I feel like I'm gaining even when I'm only thinking about it. Now, on to my food blog.
WEDNESDAY.
HMMM...Today we made
Arroz a la Cubana (Cuban style rice)
The dish is basically an assemblage of minced meat, sunny side up, pan fried plantains atop rice. Does that sound good enough?
I don't know about you, but I think this simple dish is more than good enough. It's homey flavor is made more delightful with the plantains. That sweetness and that little burnt taste with them crusty edges? Oh it just gives this dish a different flavor from the typical Filipino dish we usually associate it with, the one we find in carenderias called Giniling.

When cooking, first things first. Mise en Place is a must!

Cooking a potful of flavors.

Plated and ready to be devoured!
WHY of course I wouldn't allow a day to go by without something sweet. So here's what I had for dessert...
Truffle Cake!
Had this at Seattle's Best Coffee with Angel and Meghan. Honestly, it was a cake that looks OKAY and tastes OKAY. Nothing special. Oh well, CALORIES! I burned this truffle cake at the gym during the afternoon.
After gym, I joined my cousin at Figaro. She invited me to hang out since we haven't talked in a while. So she picked me up from Ayala then we had these goodies..
Cucumber and Green Apple Frost
Refreshing although it's tad too sweet. Well, I paired this with some
Chocolate and Banana Muffin
Rubbery Texture but I love the banana-ness of this muffin! The natural banana flavor is it's saving grace.
And this is what my cousin had, Blueberry Muffin.
This one muffin here has no saving grace. It was crumbly and tasted oily. Tsk.
I guess I can say it's a bad sweets day for me. Calories not spent very well. Anyway, more great sweet days to come I just have to be thankful for the Arroz a la Cubana that I made. It was so delicious it was my day's saving grace.
