Bleeding Love for 30 Kitchen+Bar

I have found a new place to dine and be merry. A place where good food is served at a super reasonable price. This little happy place for foodies is located near Paradise Village at Banilad Road.

The name is 30 Kitchen + Bar.

The place is located right before the gate of Paradise Village. The signage is not very eye-catching so try  not to miss it!
I love the entrance. It's giving out homey vibes!
It looks simple and welcoming. Would you agree?

The wall.

I just love the ambience of this place.

Here's the simple place mat.
It's very cost-effective, if I should say. It's just stamped but still the aesthetics wasn't compromised- it still went along well with the whole theme.

Hi, I'm Gelle and I eat desserts first.
Because why should I not?

 I love this decadent dessert.
Chocolate cake + Ganache+ Caramel Sauce = like a scene in Girls Gone Wild in my mouth-- huge "Censored" mark please!. o.0

They give you the option to have on top Vanilla Ice Cream and whipped cream but I chickened out and said NO. Yeah, I did that believe it or not.
Why? Hello, that would be like a week of working out in the gym ya know! *that I said to my self--who was longing for that scoop of Vanilla.*

Charice Bethel's Order: Pork Chop Champignon
Tried just a little bit of this dish, it was good. I love that they really exaggerated the quantity of mushrooms on top. That's how it should be! The name you give to the dish must  be the flavor, taste or ingredient that's domineering.
FYI Champignon is French for Mushroom. :)

Angel and Meghan ordered the same thing, Herb Crusted Chicken Fillet.
My my my, what big serving they got for just 175 pesos. Take note, that's two whole chicken breast fillets. Although, if I should comment, the Béchamel Sauce was a tad too thick and the consistency was off. But still, was delicious. :)

Tahdah! Here's what I ordered, Bacon and Mushroom Melt
It has bacon so it's a given that this one should really be good. Until I took a bite and went to the blue skies when I felt the perfect texture of the bread-that crust on the outside and the chewiness of the dough inside, and then my tongue was greeted with a bang by the melting cheese and boy, oh boy! That bacon! Ahh, I have fallen in love all over again with that sinful taste of bacon. Oh boy! That's all my mind said as I wiped my lips with tissue from all that piece of heaven's dripping goodness.

Looking back,it was a calorie reserve well spent. :)

Bleeding Love for Surprises.

It was one fine day unlike any other Valentine's Day I have had in the past few years. With fine I meant waking up to a full day ahead. First on my list was to cook my Caribbean Cuisine.

Oh how I loved my menu! Here's what I made...

Jamaican Jerk Chicken with Caribbean Rice
See, here's one dirty secret I want to share. This is really not the photo of what I made. If I should explain; the moment I plated the entree everyone went rushing, unabling me to have a decent shot. So let's settle for a googled photo for now.

When people tasted the main dish, they were all very glad with the taste- amazed, even. They were amazed because the chicken did not really look anything but ordinary, it looked quite like a Roasted Chicken. But with one taste, they felt the tenderness and the tastiness of the chicken. What with marinating it for 24 hours? It sure has to be that good! The sad thing is, I lost my recipe.

Of course, being a sweet tooth that I am,  I wouldn't miss making the dessert. This one I made a day ahead so that the custard with set.
Key Lime Pie
Now here's me presenting the dessert to our School Directress.
It was quite a rush during the first half of my day. I quickly went to a job interview after I presented my dish. I went to the meeting with my classmate and good friend, Angel. We were offered a traineeship with Chef Giuseppe to help him with the reopening of Loft. They'll turn it into something like BGC's Seventh High, thus they need professionals like us.

Here's me and Angel after declining the vague offer, long story! We had lunch at Michelangelo where they served the best pizza I have tasted in Cebu.

Then came the dusk. I got all made up for our singles' night out. Oh I love my sister's La Salle Varsity jacket, it sends a more casual, consevative and sporty vibe. Chyeah!

Everything was anything but special that night, until Paul called me up saying he is already outside the club.

Then the day just became a little more special.
Turns out, when you have least expected special treatment and just be truly happy with what you have it's when people go the extra mile.

Bleeding Love for Arroz a la Cubana

And for my opening blog I shall blog about----FOOD!

Oh yes, I'm a foodie consumed with wanderlust. Does that sound sinful? As sinful as a devil's cake smothered smoothly with thick ganache, drizzled with dulce de leche and served with vanilla ice cream aside? Ahhhh, I'm salivating as I'm typing. Oh my,evil thought that was.I feel like I'm gaining even when I'm only thinking about it. Now, on to my food blog.

WEDNESDAY.

HMMM...Today we made
Arroz a la Cubana (Cuban style rice)

The dish is basically an assemblage of minced meat, sunny side up, pan fried plantains atop rice. Does that sound good enough?

I don't know about you, but I think this simple dish is more than good enough.  It's homey flavor is made more delightful with the plantains. That sweetness and that little burnt taste with them crusty edges? Oh it just gives this dish a different flavor from the typical Filipino dish we usually associate it with, the one we find in carenderias called Giniling.

When cooking, first things first. Mise en Place is a must!
Cooking a potful of flavors.

Plated and ready to be devoured!

WHY of course I wouldn't allow a day to go by without something sweet. So here's what I had for dessert...

Truffle Cake!

Had this at Seattle's Best Coffee with Angel and Meghan. Honestly, it was a cake that looks OKAY and tastes OKAY. Nothing special.  Oh well, CALORIES! I burned this truffle cake at the gym during the afternoon.

After gym, I joined my cousin at Figaro. She invited me to hang out since we haven't talked in a while. So she picked me up from Ayala then we had these goodies..

Cucumber and Green Apple Frost

Refreshing although it's tad too sweet.  Well, I paired this with some

Chocolate and Banana Muffin

Rubbery Texture but I love the banana-ness of this muffin! The natural banana flavor is it's saving grace.

And this is what my cousin had, Blueberry Muffin.
This one muffin here has no saving grace. It was crumbly and tasted oily. Tsk.

I guess I can say it's a bad sweets day for me. Calories not spent very well. Anyway, more great sweet days to come I just have to be thankful for the Arroz a la Cubana that I made. It was so delicious it was my day's saving grace.
